Materials for every artwork

The signature of Veerle De Vos

Each artwork by Veerle De Vos is thoughtfully constructed from carefully selected materials. Each material contributes to the expression, appearance and durability of her sculptures. Below you will discover the unique properties of each medium she uses.

Clay – Pure emotion in motion
Clay is a living material, extremely suitable for sculpting expressive works of art. It responds directly to every hand movement, making spontaneity and emotion tangible in every sculpture. Perfect for the first creative process and for smaller sculptures with character.

Polyester – Light, strong and ideal for outdoor art
Polyester is a modern and versatile material that is often used in larger sculptures. It is lightweight, weatherproof and durable, making it ideal for outdoor artwork, gardens or public spaces.

Precious metal – Fine finish with a luxurious appearance
For subtle details or refined accents, Veerle chooses precious metals such as silver or gilded bronze. These materials give a luxurious and timeless look to any artwork and provide a special contrast within a composition.

Bronze – Timeless material with character
Bronze has been the material of choice for classical and modern sculpture for centuries. It is extremely durable, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, and develops a natural patina over time that makes each work of art unique. Many of Veerle's best-known works, such as her "Dikke Madammen" or bronze divers, are cast in bronze.

Carrara Marble – Elegance in Stone
Italian Carrara marble is known for its soft shine and pure appearance. Veerle uses this noble natural stone for monumental and serene sculptures. The subtle veins and bright color give her sculptures an almost sacral calm.

Who is Veerle

Veerle De Vos is a Belgian artist.

Veerle De Vos (°1962, Avelgem), VV for short, is a Belgian artist known for her expressive, versatile and moving sculptures. Her artistic path really began after a turning point in her life: a serious fall while cycling brought her to a deeper introspection and led her to the world of visual arts. With a background in psychology and work experience in education and the financial sector, she eventually found her true calling in art.

Since 2007, Veerle has exhibited internationally, with exhibitions in countries including Belgium, France, Spain, the Netherlands and South Africa. Her work is characterised by a continuous search for new forms, textures and layers of meaning. From clay to Carrara marble, from precious metals to bronze and polyester – her choice of materials is as diverse as her themes.

Veerle's sculptures revolve around existential themes such as creation, life, human experience and the relationship with the world. Each work invites you to touch, to stand still, to feel. They are often fragile and vulnerable, but precisely because of that powerful and intense. Her sculptures ask not only to be viewed, but to be experienced - with head and heart.
